Maddie’s favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, are on a tear. They’ve opened up a 9.5 game lead over their division rivals, the Washington Nationals, and seem well on their way to clinching the division crown in the National League East.

During today’s game against Atlanta, Maddie, Dexter, Hazel, Mom and Dad all watched as the Mets were down 7-4 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth…

And cheered as Daniel Murphy hit a three-run homer and the Mets somehow found a way to win the game in extra innings by a score of 10-7!

Some say the remarkable resurgence of the Mets is due to their pitching staff. Others chalk it up to their trade-deadline acquisitions. Still others cite the chemistry of a team that mixes young superstars of tomorrow with seasoned veterans. Around here we can’t help but wonder if the success of the Mets isn’t directly linked to the arrival of their number one fan, Maddie Beryl Cha Cutler.
